ASA National Age Groups Championships Results

It was a successful weekend for CoPA swimmers who took part in the National Age Groups Championships at Gloucester this weekend.

Day 1 – A very successful day for CoPA at the Nationals on Friday with the recreational under 19s combination team (Ana, Tilly, Sophie, Olivia, Daisy, Rhea, Izzy and Leah) finishing a very impressive 4th out of 23 teams, narrowly missing the podium by only half a point behind Rushmoor.

Day 2 – After a very early start on Saturday, six CoPA swimmers took part in the various age group figure competitions.  Sophie competed first and placed 91st.  Daisy, Olivia and Natasha competed next with Daisy taking 3rd place (bronze) for her 12 and under figures, Natasha placing 59th and Olivia 75th.  127 swimmers competed in total.  The final figure competition was Rhea and Tilly’s category with Rhea placing 47th and Tilly 68th.  77 swimmers competed.  The final event of the day for CoPA was the 12 and under duet with Daisy and Olivia competing.  They placed 15th.

Day 3 – The final day of the competition saw Daisy perform a beautiful solo for the 12 and under category and finish 7th overall.  Rhea and Tilly also swam a fantastic duet, finishing 12th.

Following Daisy’s outstanding figures result, she has been invited as one of 10 hand picked swimmers to take part in trials for the England Development Squad next weekend at Crystal Palace.  A great weekend’s swimming by all swimmers and special congratulations to Daisy for her superb achievements.  CoPA is very proud!

Fantastic results, well done ladies!

* UPDATED WITH RESULTS * – CoPA’s Winning Streak Continues at Yorkshire Competition

Team CoPA triumphed again on Sunday with all swimmers making their mark on the competition.  Results were split between the Yorkshire clubs and the invitational clubs and the results here represent the invitational clubs of which CoPA was a part.

In the 12 and under category, Daisy took gold for her figures and gold for her solo, whilst Natasha took bronze medals for both her figures and solo.  Daisy and Olivia also took a gold for their duet.  In the 13-15 category, Leah placed first to take gold in figures, with Izzy close behind to take silver.  The two girls also stood side-by-side on the podium in the solo event with Leah taking gold and Izzy silver.  Both girls cemented their partnership with their duet swim to earn themselves a gold medal.  In the 15-18 junior competitive category, Rhea took silver for figures and another silver for her solo.  Rhea and Tilly took gold for their competitive duet.

The medal count was sufficient to warrant a special award for CoPA in joint third place for the ‘most medals’ won overall in the competition.  Considering that CoPA were by far the smallest club there this is a considerable achievement and is in keeping with CoPA’s ‘quality over quantity’ ethos.  Another deserved result for CoPA swimmers.
