CoPA has synchronised swimmers both past and present striving to represent their country as part of the GB synchronised swimming squad. However synchronised swimming and water polo were dealt a severe blow in 2014 when a major source of funding for these Olympic sports was cut entirely by UK Sport, leaving these athletes (or their parents) to fund the vast majority of their training themselves. Please take the time to complete the UK Sport public consultation survey on this topic which is currently under review and help to campaign for a fairer distribution of funding across all Olympic sports and hopefully synchro and water polo may once again be able to benefit from some much needed funding at national/international level.
It was an action packed weekend as CoPA travelled to Nottingham to compete in the National Synchronised Swimming Championships 2018. Although there were no medals this time, our girls did themselves and CoPA proud with creditable placings in this highest level of domestic synchro competition in the UK. Results are as follows:
Rhea & Leah finished 9th in the free duet
Rhea finished 11th in her tech solo
Rhea finished 15th in her free solo
The CoPA free combination team (Fiona, Isabel, Izzy, Leah, Olivia, Rhea and Tilly) finished 10th
Great work girls!
Videos of the routines can be seen here for logged in CoPA members.
CoPA is very proud to announce that Camilla Hadcock has successfully qualified as a level 3 synchro judge. This is the highest level of judging qualification and qualifies Camilla to judge national competitions. Congratulations and great work Camilla!
A squad of between six and ten synchronised swimmers will be selected for additional training. Swimmers must already be attending all current club sessions, have a good work ethic, be self-motivated, be prepared to take on extra individual training and be full of enthusiasm! Current attendance, attitude, results during 2017 and performance in the North West trials will contribute towards selection.
If selected there will be an additional monthly fee of approximately £15 to cover pool hire.
If you are interested and would like to be considered please see Fiona.
